I have a het blizzard that is breeding with my male jungle this year, what would the offspring be called? Would they still be het blizzard, I would assume, but maybe I'm wrong, and if so what percentage of het would they be? Also I heard that jungle is not a recessive gene but can be displayed from normals without being het for jungle, is this true? I know I have had some aberrants from normals but never a jungle and I got a jungle from a blizzard x leucistic pair. My genetics really suck. lol. I basically know what I'm getting when putting together two of the same morph or a het and a morph with the same genetics as the het. If that was understandable. lol. But once it comes to breeding 2 hets or double hets and het I get lost in the clouds. Kind of like where this post it going. lol,
Anyway, basically what I'm asking for is a little genetic tutorial. ;)
They would be 100% hets. Some might have abberant patterns and be called 100% het for blizzard jungles. Others would have normal patterns and be 100% hets.
You said the jungle was from a blizzard and leucistic? Well that jungle would be double het for blazing blizzard. If you bred that jungle to a blizzard, you'd get:
1/4 hets for blizzard
1/4 blizzard
1/4 normal double het for banana (so het for both traits)
and 1/4 blizzards het for leucistic.
of course, you wouldn't be able to tell which blizzards were het for what. Some might have jungle patterns, just stick jungle in from of the rest :)

with the female animal a het for blizzard not a blizzard I think only 1:4 is a possible het for blizzard, 1:4 possible het anery, 1:4 possible het amel

Oooh sorry, I misunderstood. I thought the male was a blizzard, not a het. In which case:
1/8 Normal het for leu
2/8 normal double hets
1/8 normal
2/8 normal het blizzards
1/8 blizzards
1/8 blizzard het for leu
That's genotype.
The phenotype (maybe thats wrong, I'm using the french word) would be:
6 normals, 16% het for leu, 32% double het and 32% het for blizzard.
2 blizzards 50% het for leu

but i am confused where the leu comes into all this? a blazing blizzard is from albino x blizzard, not patternless x blizzard
One leo is double het for blazing, and the other is het for blizzard.
Oh! Okay, everywhere I said BLAZING I meant BANANA. My mistake, but the numbers are still the name.

but the jungle is from a bliz x patternless. how is there any albinoism in this? oh man.......i need a drink...lol
to get a blazing, you need to get a bliz breed to an albino. Keep the offspring, breed them to each other. 1/16 chance at blazing.
blizz x patternless = banana blizz.
I know, the albinism/blazing was a mistake. i meant banana blizzard.
blizz x patternless = normal, double het for blizz and patternless :)

Ok... for your first question, if you're breeding a 100% het blizzard to a jungle -- your babies will be 50% hets -- which basically means that half will be hets, and half won't be, but since there's no way of telling them apart without breeding them once they mature, they're referred to as 50% hets.
As for the jungle thing -- it's a great debate. LOL :) Most people seem to believe that it's not a recessive trait (ie. there's no such thing as het for jungle). Although you do have the greatest chance of producing jungles by breeding 2 together, but sometimes jungles will pop up in odd places too (like from your blizzard x patternless pairing).
Any babies from your blizzard/patternless pairing are double hets for blizzard & patternless (or double het for banana blizzard as it's also referred to).
Breeding double hets together produces (I'll use banana blizzard for this example):
6.25% without trait
12.5% Het. patternless
6.25% Patternless
12.5% Het. blizzard,
25% Het. blizzard, Het. patternless (double het for banana blizzard)
12.5% Patternless, het blizzard
6.25% Blizzard
12.5% Blizzard, het patternless
6.25% Banana Blizzard
If you were to breed the double het back to an animal displaying one of the traits (in this case, I'll say that you bred one of the double het babies back to the blizzard parent), you'd get:
12.5% Het. blizzard
25% Het. blizzard, Het. patternless
12.5% Patternless, het blizzard
12.5% Blizzard
25% Blizzard, het patternless
12.5% Banana Blizzard
All of those percentages are actually the odds of each egg having the traits in question -- so while eventually you should produce a banana blizzard out of either of those pairings, there's no guarantee it would happen anytime soon...
