I have just bought a new cornsnake ( hatchling) and i was wondering do i have to quentine her for 6 months and keep her away from my other cornsnake? ( 1 year) which has not been in contact with another snake for a while?? And in 6 months can u get them out togetther or will they fight???

The animal should be quarantined for about 90 days. The size difference would probably stress the smaller snake if you get them together. They shouldn't fight once they get comprablly sized.

I still would not force them to live together after the quarantin period. Two snakes in the same cage can stress each other out. Stress is the silent killer in reptiles.

I q quarantine all animals for a minimum of 90 days!

All snakes should be quarantined for 3-6+ months minimum. I agree with Trevor, snakes shouldn't be housed together IMHO except for breeding. In addition to all the associated health risks, and safety risks, another point is that if you did choose to house two oppositely sexed snakes together, they should both be very young, or both be sexually mature and in breeding condition. Males will breed earlier than females, and at one year of age, he may be willing to try to breed, and your female is just a baby...it could easily damage her irrepairably or worse yet, kill her.

It's not the best idea, IMHO, to handle animals together either. You should have two hands available to handle each animal, should it become nervous or whatever else.
