I have a 1.0 Bull Snake. I have had a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft Vivarium built for him. I want to have some live plants in his Viv. What plants would be safe & what soil would be safe to grow these plants in his Viv????
I would go with Pothos plants in peatmoss/top soil (with none of the white thingies) mix.

Pothos is a good vine if you want vines
rubber plant and spider plants are good hardy plants that look good
as for the white thingies its called perlite I wouldnt worry about perlite though if your feeding F/T. what you have to worry about is pestacides in the soil.
I usually use vermiculight for soil because it retains moisture for a long time and I forget to water plants and it has nothing in it but the rock itself
From my experience, pothos is probably one of the few plants that can withstand the 'rough love' of your snakes.
I agree with Zoe and Edwin that Pothos are great. They are a sturdy plant that takes abuse better than most, and grows great in terrariums ;)

While I agree with the plant suggestions... my bullsnakes routinely trash their cages, I don't think they are a snake particularly well suited to setting up with live plants, especially since you'll probably need to actually put pots in the cage. Setting up an entire vivarium with a moist substrate suitable for plants would not be very suitable for a bullsnake. Certainly can't hurt to try, but I wouldn't be surprised if the snake made a big mess. :)

Are there any Hanging plants that I can use? We have decided that because Ekans likes to move her things about so much, that if we grew trailing plants on top of her Viv' & drilled a few holes in the back of her Viv' & put the vines through the holes, that it would be safer & cleaner & It would hide the plain wood background of the Viv. Any thoughts?
