One of my leo eggs got really big and then collapsed. It collapsed around 3 days ago. How long should I wait until I know it wont hatch?

How long has it been incubating? They often collapse a few days before they hatch.
Candle it by putting a small flashlight next to the egg..If you see any red in it, it's probably OK, although if it's about to hatch, you wont see much but a dark mass in the egg
It happened to me this season with my 2 fisrt eggs..
If it collapsed and no babies got out within 24 hours, I'd say it's dead.
I opened the egg up to find a dead fully formed baby.
Someone with lots of experience in bredding leos then told me my vermiculite was too wet.
Since then, I squeeze my vermiculite in my fist in order for it to only be a bit humid and my success rate is now 100% hatching.
Hope this helps.

After almost a week nothing came out so I opened it up and found a fully formed gecko like you. I keep on thinking maybe if I waited just a bit longer it would have come out. I'll check my vermiculite to make sure it's not too wet. Thanks.

or maybe the vermiculite wasnt damp enough? it shold be just damp so if u hold it between ur finger and ur thumb that it should be sticky

I think it might have been too wet. Two of my eggs got fuzz on them and I was told it's probably too wet. I'm a bit confused now. hmmm...
I'm pretty sure it's too wet Martin.. don't bother with the rest and try to correct this rigth away, your case is exactly the same as mine and now everything is fine.
good luck !

Thanks for the advice everyone! I made things much less wet and threw away 3 eggs that were collapsed and fuzzy. Since I adjusted the wetness a lot of the eggs seem to have grown a lot. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but thanks anyway.

One more thing, I'm going to start candling my eggs. If I can see red veins it means it's alive right? What colour will it be if it's dead? Just anything but red? I'm hoping it's not orange or something like that cuz I'm terrible at telling the difference between red and orange (and sometimes yellow).
