Hello everyone!

I own a 2 year old female green basalisk, and recently one of her toes has turned balck and has swelled considerably, i have no clue what it is. I have been putting polysporine on it every other day, but nothing has changed and i have reason to believe it is spreading up into her ankle, as it started to bleed when i was cleaning her tank.

If you guys have any idea what is wrong with her, could you let me know, and also could you tell fill me in on what my next course of action should be?

Thanks in advance

A trip to the vet would be a good idea. Good luck with her. Let us know how it goes.

Kaveman, I would suggest you get her to the vet! If your reptile is ever bleeding, swollen or shows otherwise serious sypmtoms of distress and injury, your FIRST reaction should be to take her to a vet! NEVER try to treat a reptile yourself unless you know what you are doing... you could cause more harm trying to help. Reptiles take quite a while to heal from (and develop, for that matter), infections. From the sound of it, it seems like your basilisk has an infection, and although I can't see her, infections like the one you describe may need amputation if you wait to long! Get her to the vet A.S.A.P. and let us know what the doc says! Good luck!

It probably came from a bad shed and some skin was left on her toe...they say that usually causes infection but i agree with everyone...see a vet before it gets to bad to stop!
good luck!
