hi everyone,
as you all know, Ambush is a desert kingsnake ( splendida ) and i wonder if that type of getula is mostly active at night or is it Ambush? Every time i turn the lights off ( except for the infra red ) she becomes active. If i compare it with my brother's cali king well it's day and night, lol. One is always on the move and the other one is mostly active at night. Can someone tell me a bit about his or her experience with a splendida?

Not too sure if splendida are any more different that the other getula but in general they seem to be opportunists. There are times when they can be diurnal. That is during the cooler months when the nights are too cold for activity and the only heat is from basing in the direct sun. They can also be nocturnal, especially during the warmer months when the heat from the sun is too strong and at night they warm up from rocks and roads which have retained the heat from the day.

But for some reason when it's favorable temps both day and night, I'm inclined to believe that they're nocturnal. This is my personal observation with my own collection. Most seem to feed with a stronger response a night too.
