Frozen rats

How long should a frozen rat thaw out before feeding my year old ball? I am going to try to introduce her to rats. I just dont know how she will take to dead food. WISH ME LUCK!

All rodents will take different times depending on size of rodent, temperature of water, and how fast the water cools. Check on it periodically by pinching it in its chest and abdomen until you get to the spine and hold for a few seconds. If there is no trace of cold at all then you are ready to go ;)

once it is out of the water it should stay warm in your hand. If it has cool/cold spots it is still to cold

Also if it is really floppy then it is defrosted. :)

it is prety dificult to get them started on rats it is best to start them on pinky rats as a young snake but you might try rodent spray or rub your hand on a mouse then on the rat and that might work i dont no thoe or split brain the rat

I would thaw the rat out for at least 2 hours. Just make sure that the rat isn't frozen at all for it can be very bad for your snake and even fatal. just stay away from the microwave. One second of cooking too much and **BOOM**!! It can explode! Trust me on that one..i've experienced it and it wasn't much fun to clean up!

I use a cup full of hot water, and put the rodent in a plastic baggie, and then in the water--that way it doesn't get wet, and thaws quickly. If you poke it hard in the stomach and don't feel any cold, it's ready to feed.
