View Full Version : visiting the vet
what all should i expect the vet to check when take my snake in tommorow
You should expect your vet to look over the exterior of the snake, (checking for mites, ticks, retained sheds, etc.); s/he then will probably check the snake's mouth (for sores, missing/infected teeth and gums, mouthrot, etc.); and most of all, they will probably want a fecal sample to check for worms and other parasites. If this isn't too late, try to collect a fresh stool before going to the vet. Store in the fridge (NOT the freezer) until you leave for the appointment. Good luck, and I hope this helps!
I appreciate you letting me know I have the sample but its three days old
I now have two snakes to take wit me. Mine, and one rescued from inmates. She's cut and not happy right now though
I would try to get a sample fresher than 3 days, but if that's all you got, and it's been refridgerated it should be fine.
You mentioned the second snake is 'cut'. How? Where is the cut located? Are you treating it in any way? Does it appear infected? Keep us updated on your visit!
my visit went well my snake got clean bill the other did as well.Told me to keep it clean, and use triple anti ointment sparingly. If it seemed to get infected bring her back. The cut is on the right side maybe two inchs down from the head, it looked worse than it is. Mostly torn skin from a rock hurling chicken sh inmate at work

I'm glad to hear your snakes are well. Remember to get them ageneral check-up at least once a year, I personally take my animals in twice a year. Keep up the good work, that's a cute snake you got there!
