Hey everyone,
I was just wondering, what kind of glass would you use to build an enclosure for a boa thats strong enough to not shatter when struck at? Also, what kind of bulb and how many watts should i use to heat a 5' x 3' x 2' enclosure? Should i use a normal red bulb or a read heat bulb (those bulbs that look like flood lights exept are in red)?

Thanks,
Ben

I left this up, please do not post multiples. You posted the glass question already. As for the heating question, what kind of enclosure is it? If you do choose to go with a bulb for heating, then you must use a heat lamp, the regular bulbs are just for viewing and don't really give off much heat. Have you explored other options as well?

Hey Linds,
Its a custom built wood enclosure. I wasnt thinking of using those regular bulbs for heating, instead i was thinking of a floodlight or some sort of red bulb? What would you choose?

Thanks,
Ben

Have you considered using heat tape? Or how about radiant heat panels? I would use radiant heat panels in all my enclosures if I had the money to invest in them. They are a bit pricey to start with, but end up saving money in the long run. They also cannot burn your herp and won't dry out the air. I don't like using lights/CHE's to heat snake enclosures (with the exception of arboreal species).
