Hey everyone! I found this cute little guy/girl in my house tonight. Apparently it decided to sneek under the screen door and curl up on the carpet. Any ideas of what it could be? It's really calm and hasnt been gresive at all.

Looks like a water snake to me. Maybe a brown water?

Looks like either a FL banded water snake (Nerodia fasciata pictiventris) or a Banded Water snake (N. f. fasciata). Maybe even a Broad banded (N. f. confluens)

These pics may help.

FL. water snake. Nerodia fasciata pictiventris. They are quite variable for sure. Cute though, huh?

I want to keep it im going to get tadpoles tomorrow and I set him up in a nice 10 gal with some hides, a big water bowl and a nice flat rock by the heat lamp. Its about 85.3 on the warm side and 81 on the cool side. It's so darn cute! If I cant get it to eat tho I'll have to let it go......

Good luck with him/her. And yes if she doesn't eat for ya, best to release.

One thing to watch out for is blister disease. Even though they're aquatic snakes they need dry places, else they can get blisters between their scales due to the high humidity. I say this cos I notice the paper towel she's on is wet. Create dry places by using brances or even a brick which she can climb onto.

thanks! yeah she ate a little frog the other night and i got a small fish for her today waiting to see if she will eat it tonight, its in her water dish. She likes to go for a swim everynight. . She has some sticks, a box to hid in, the big water dish, and a nice big flat rock that she likes to sit on. I think im gonna call her Skylar. thanks for the advice!
