Hi!
I wanna know if Suriname albino have been produce in captivity?
Thank's for your time!
I believe only Suranime x Colombians albinos have been produced.
Zoe
As far as I know there is only one true albino suri in captivity and it has not been bred. There have been several people playing with Suri x BCI projects, which is truly a shame. Who will be to say that they have a true albino suri now that the pool has been overly conatimated before it has even had a chance to start out pure :(
Dave and Tracy Barker have the first True Suri albino in captivity.
It is a male and should be breeding this unpcoming season I beleive.
If you go to VPI website and go through their bragging post you will see a pic of its tail.

Are you sure it's a pure suri albino and not a Bci x Bcc...This is my little rant I can't stand ppl cross the two subspecies once the gene pool is muddy it can never be clean again!
I have my suspicions too... it'd be really easy to just keep crossing a bci x suranime into another suranime and after a few generations get something that looks a LOT like an albino suranime.
If you go to the VPI website and the braggin post for June 2003 I believe it is under albino and striped heading.
They specifically state Wild Caught Suriname male.
There has been a male in the States for the last 3 or 4 years he orginally was imported into Europe and purchased by someone in the U.S. I guess that somone was VPI.
Albinos pop up in every population it is was only a matter of time.
Check out the pics and you be the jugde, but if you do not know who Dave and Tracy Barker are they would be the ones with the connections and funds needed to obtain such a specimen.

A don't see why its so unbelievable that there would be an albino in a population of boas in Colombia/Central America, but not one in Suriname/Gyuana/S. America. Why would anyone think like that? Albinos pop up all the time. Albino BRB's have made it into the US before. Don't be so quick to jump on a Bci x Bcc cross bandwagon. A lot of people have put a lot of time and money into their projects, and assumptions like that can destroy a lot o hard work.
why would vpi lie and stake their whole reputation on somethign could be traced back as fraud?
besides... i dont think even 3/4 suriname is gonna be enough to pull the wool over everyones eyes... i think its the real deal.
doesnt will slough have one as well?

I'm not bashing VPI, in anyway.
I don't think anyone here believes that either Dave or Tracey would lie, they have no reason to at all, and as Dan said, if anyone had the resources to get a true albino bcc, it would be them, but Tracey was all over the forums about a year or two ago with her Albino Colombian x Suri project...
