Ok these are not the best pictures if you love leosand if you don't want to see what worms can do to your leo then i advise you not to look at these pictures. I'm giving you all fair warning.

with that said. What i'm going to show you is my leo. loki, she is very sick and battling with round worms. she has been to the vet numerous times and has been givin panacur. and she is living in the cleanest conditions possible. the worms won;t go away. but since i got this stuff called parazap she is finally eating. with that said i will show you the pics. This is mostly to show samba what i have been dealing with for 5 months now.

OMG, My heart goes out to you and your poor little girl. I am litterally in tears looking at those pictures. God, I hope I never have to go through that with one of my guys. That poor little girl. I can't imagine how hard it has been for you. 5 months, and to see her in that state. I can't express my feelings. I truely hope she getts better soon. I hope the para zap works for her if nothing else will. :( Take care and hang in there. I'm sure you know we are all here for you, even if just to talk and get your feelings and worries out and listened to. God bless, adn bless that sweet little girl.

thank you everyone. It has been very hard on her and myself. She's a strong fighter, deep down i belive she will make it through this. She keeps on trying.

today as i was cleaning her cage, she fought with me the whole time(which is great consedering before parazap she would hardly move) and she ate 4 more meal worms today. Which is an improvement from force feeding her. I'm so glad i don't have to do that anymore.

What i don't understand is, I have 6 other leos in her colony they were all housed together and all given the same meds in the begining. she is the only one that looks like this. The rest are all perfectly fine. she is completely quarintend from the rest, and in another room.

It's going to be a long hard process to make her better, but i will do whatever it takes to see her through this. if anyone has any suggestions i would be more than greatful. But it will probly be hard seeing i have tried almost everything i can think of. in a few weeks i'll let you guys know how shes doing.

Thanks again

Jamie

Jamie, when I read your first post about Loxi having round worms, I thoght that it would just be a couple of parasites to get rid of but OMG, I feel horrible for you and Loki. I must second Debbie's post about being in tears from looking at her..I wish you the best of luck and I hope that she recovers :(

Jamie- I got your message. I am so sorry that Loki is in such a state. I know this is not from your neglect, as you know, I know, how devestating worms can be. This should serve as a warning to everyone... please, please get your leos dewormed at least once or twice a year! Some are going to argue that parasites are necessary and natural, but having them explode inside an animal you care about because it is captive and can do nothing 'naturally' as it would in the wild to rid themselves of these pests.

Jamie, I am so glad that Loki has been improving. I wish I had found out about the Parazap for Darwin in time to save him. Keep up the good work with her. If she continues fighting, she'll make it. Keep us updated, and btw, I think Loki is adorable and hasnice markings/colors (she really does look like a little leopard!) You and Loki are in my prayers.

Maybe it's seems weird, but thank you Drewlove for sharing us theses pics. You made me realise something. My male, Rex, that as worms, is not at the same level as yours.
Hopefully, Loki would continue to go better and better. I'm sure that you will and are doing everything you can to save her!!

Keep us uptaded!!!
Good luck!

Yes i came to relize if i posted these pictures that maybe people would relize worms can do alot of harm to your reptiles if not takin care of immeditly. I looked passed people saying i didn't take care of my herps because i know the truth, but i want people to see that worms can cause some serious damage if not death. Dont wait till you really think your reptile is sick. go to the vet as soon as something doesn't feel right. And also have at least 1-2 fecals done a year.

Now i do the 2 fecals a year and loki gets a checkup 2 times a year. right when she got the worms the vet said she was in great condition and she should return to normal. Niether me nor the vet knew what a toll these worms where going to do to her. For some reason she is having a hard time fighting them off. Plus it doesn't help that the meds she is given makes her not want to eat. But as i have said that parazap is helping her out. I have learned a lot of valuble information, (that i wish i didn't have to find out this way) that can benifit my collection in the future and possibly help out other people that end up getting worms in their reptiles. Plus for the rest of the time that i keep reptiles they will be give parazap once a month for the rest of their lives as a prevenitive so they don't end up like loki has. I will continue to tell people how much parazap has helped all of my reptiles in the short time i have had it, and for as long as i use it. would you rather pay $24.00 now or have to end up like i was with numerous vet bills and a very sick leo(or another herp). cause i have spent a couple hundred on loki since she was sick (if i had only known about parazap before she had gotten sick, she wouldn't have to suffer like this). I would spend $1000.00's on her if i knew it was going to make her better. I pray nobody has to suffer as much as loki and myself has.

Repti i wish you and rex the best of luck. Anytime you need help or you don't think somethings right just ask and i will try to help. There will also be SOME weight loss but watch it very careful you don't want too much weight loss.

Thanks again everyone and i will post someting about her condition every once and a while cause i belive it's going to be a long slow process for her to get better. Hopefully soon she will get her true colors back. She is a melanistic gecko, even though she don't look like it.

Jamie
