Hmm. Well my list changes frequently, but I like Brian's answers. This very day, my list is:
Most Venomous: i assume you mean in terms of yeild... if so, 5 foot Gaboons, if you meant most toxic, Indian Kraits.
Least venomous: 3 day old c.b. Popes Vipers (tons of them)
Biggest: 8 foot Black Mamba (my gaboons weigh much more)
Smallest: 3 day old Popes Vipers
Most Aggressive: Black Mambas
Least Aggressive: Indian Kraits

Well as of 10 pm today I have no hots but up till then it would have been
1 --- Fierce snake x 4
2 ----Blue tree snake
3-----Black coastal tipan--11ft
4-----Death adder 10 ins
5-----King brown 9ft out of control, 2 hooks and a bag to handle him
6-----Fierce snake female, a big girl!! I dont think she knows she can bite. Watches tv with me and sleeps with my dog in a hammock. :)
Most venomous (going on LD50s) : Naja kaouthia(Monacled Cobra) probally, although the bannded egypts I just picked up woul probally do me in much quicker! Alot more venom!!!!
Leat venomous: Agkistrodon contortrix mokaesen (Northern Copperhead)
Biggest: Agkistrodon piscivorus conanti (5 ft + Florida Cottonmouth. Probally near 10 lbs if not more!!!)
Smallest: Its a toss up between my male Atheris squamigera (Varible Bush Viper) and my male Aspidelaps lubricus lubricus (Cape Coral Cobra). They are only about 15 inches each and
both are adults!!!
Most aggresive: Truth be told none of my snakes are aggresive. They are either defensive or hungry. Never do I take it as being aggresive. However, if you mean the ones with the worst feeding response, well, the baby banded egyptians go off the freaken wall when they eat!!! My female Naja kaouthia is also pretty horrendus. Theres also my we little male Trimereusrus purpureomaculatus who is the most defensive thing I have ever seen!! He does not stop strikeing at you untill you are out of the room!! That snake has a few screws loose!!!
Calmest: Hands down my female Aspidelaps lubricus/infuscatus intergrade (Coral Cobra to make it easy). She mine as well be a freaken milk snake!! She is very mellow and COULD be held without any retaliation but I anit going to do it!!!
Welp, there ya go,
Jeremy

The answer to all these questions is the same for me...copperhead. I only have one venomous, but will be buying more copperheads in the near future (don't know from who yet, still looking for someone with in driving distance of N/W Alabama)

Hey SC. I didint know that the canebrake was more venomous than the EDB.

JayAllen, Yes that was a huge pig. I have seen one other that was about that size. Would have to look at them together to know which is the largest. The other was a female brown Carolina pig. Guys, this guy has a dusky pig that looks like an EDB. =) This thing is a monster.

JasonBrennan, We are located in Chattanooga, TN. We are not far from AL.

Shaggybill, Yes the cane is more toxic. They pack a dual venom, both Hemotoxic and Neurotoxic. The worst are the Jasper County, SC locale. They have been tested up to 37% Neurotoxic. We are working on a research project with Dr Gordon Schuett of Zoo Atlanta. He feels the canes have surpassed the Mojaves as the most dangerous snakes in North America. The dangerous thing about the easterns is the venom yield. Over 600 mg has been extracted from large specimens. That is twice the amount gathered from WDB.

True, but that changes daily. One of our breeder has 2 gravid females right now, we will have CB southern babies in a week or two.

Chuck, actually I dont think Jasper County SC is the hottest anymore. Research from University of FL on geographic variations of neutoxins in Crotalus horridus atricaudatus showed specimens in Lake City, FL that were 24% more neurotoxic than a Mojave. They collected specimens from throughout the Cane's range. I will have more details once my official copy of the research results shows up.

Very interesting, I would like to see that research. My info on the Jasper County came from Dr Gordon Schuett or Zoo Atlanta. He is probably the foremost authority on North American pit vipers.

Yeah, I have been waiting for that research to come out for a while now. I have always heard that the concentration of neurotoxins increase as the range proceeds south. Coincides with the research it would seem. But then, with nature, who knows? I have a timber that is hotter than about any other snake I have ever seen. I would love to get his venom composition tested. I think there is strictnine in there ;)

Just got off the phone with Gordon, he will be at our place tomorrow. I’ll see if he is familiar with this research. Do you know who is conducting it?

Sorry, I am not sure. DNR is going to try to get me a copy. It may be int he Toxicon archives. I need to get to UGA and use their computers so I can access it. Exciting stuff! i love it when research is done on our natives :)
