I found an extra Florida king in this egg!!! I had seen the egg pip. A hatchling came out. I picked up the empty egg to throw it out, and noticed it was heavy. I took a second look, and found this hatchling in a completely separate membrane inside the single egg. I tore open the egg more exposing the other hatchling for a picture.
The egg it self was misshapen and had a grayish ring around it, the ring was right where the second membrane was, now I know why it was there. :)
Last year I hatched out twin Pueblans. They came out at the same time and I believe shared the same egg sack. Twins. But this is two completely separate egg sacks in one egg. Twins??????
What ever it is I thought it was kinda cool.

Sometimes 2 different embryos will share 1 egg. This does not mean they are twins. If they have exactly the same paterning then they are twins. A friend of mine just hatched out actual twin Cal Kings. Very cool.

I figure it's like identical (sharing egg-nuclei/eggsack) and fraternal (sharing eggshell) twins regardless of exact matching of pattern(though I would figure that a strong indicator). It would take DNA testing to prove it though.

Very cool, Paul! Nothing wrong with a bonus kingsnake, is there?, LOL!

Excellent post. Thanks for sharing.

It looks like two eggs that never fully seperated. Did the snake make it?
Cheers,

Thanx everyone!! Both snakes are alive and appear normal, they are different in size, markings etc. I do kinda of like that two eggs that never fully seperated idea. But Simon is right!! the extra king is cool!!!!! :) :)

Were those 2 babies smaller than the rest or was everyone the same size? Like was the twin/double egg(s) bigger than the rest or more like the same size of the other eggs & just different? Twins or not its still pretty cool & of course bonus for you. Mark I.

Both alive, that's awsome. I have one egg in my corns second clutch that looks like it may be big enough for two so here's hoping.
Again Congrats,
Trevor

Hey Mark the egg was larger, than all the rest. The first snake out was the same size as the other hatchlings, the second to come out was a litlle smaller than rest. However like Ed r and reverandsterlin say two snakes one egg = twins. I honestly do not know. It was just different from the twins last year lol :)
Trevor good luck!!! keep us posted!!!

Sometimes what happens is as each embryo gets covered in its respective shell, two snakes get covered by mistake.

All snakes in a clutch are twins, quintuplets, etc.
