Below are two clutches of Western Hognose snake eggs from the same female. The clutch on the left
was laid just over a month ago, and then last night I got clutch 2 on the right. A couple are duds(far right)
and a few from the first clutch have already been tossed, but still, that's a lot of eggs to pump out in just over a month. Last year
this female ovulated in hibernation due to the warm winter
and it screwed things up completely. She was dumping slugs all summer with not a single good egg.
All goes to show, a good cool winter can make for excellent breeding.

Incredible, Roy!
How big are the babies when they hatch?

Thanks for sharing the pics and interesting info. Fascinating, as always.

Save me a nice red female!

Simon, they tend to be pretty small babies, barely 6 to 8 inches but pudgy. They require tiny pinkies at first but grow fast.
Some people have trouble getting baby hogs feeding, but I think this depends on the blood line. I never have any problem with mine. They generally eat pinkies right off..no scenting or any nonsense.

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback..this is the most eggs I've ever had out of one colubrid in such a short period..and I've been doing it a while LOL The second clutch has higher fertility than the first clutch, that is also quite rare.
Trev, the incubation requirement is the same as most colubrids..80 to 85F..they usually hatch fairly fast..45 to 50 days
