I fed slugs to my Jacksons when I had them a few years ago. They loved them more than most other 'normal' food. The slime coating makes it impossible to zap them with a tongue shot, so they have to get right up to the slugs and pick them off. It's a bit hard for the male to do with his horns getting in the way, but he managed. He'd turn his head almost upside down and pick the slugs off, very awkward way to eat, but it worked. The effort they make to eat slugs suggests that they're worth it.
The panthers like them but not quite as much. Though they will eat them readily, they do leave a few left-overs, unlike the jacksons did.

Almost all my herps love slugs and snails. My skinks love them the most. Last year I fed my big blue tongue about twenty at a herp party. It was a hoot to watch him go at them.
