vents

i just read on a site that it is not good to put your ventilation near the floor of your enclosure, they say it will chill the animal and creat health problems. i can see the health problems being an issue however if the ventilation were 3" off the floor in a room that reaches an 80 high and 70 low do you think this might cause a problem with my bci. i already have the holes cut out and was planning on having two 2" vents 3" off the floor on the cool side and 1 2" vent 3" from the top on the hot side. anythoughts because i personally didn't see this as being a problem, but now i am second guessing my set up.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE IT"S JUST A SIMPLE YES OR NO QUESTION!!! just joking, i am just looking for some advice before i assemble the cages there is still a few more coats of sealant to put on and i have to build a cover for the lights but it will hopefully be put together soon enough. thanks for not, ahhh... i mean for answering my question. lol

it depends on your temps, here in the desert southwest, it's a perfect setup using hot air movement to circulate air through the enclosure during 9+ months of heat and little cold during the rest. In another setting it may be less desirable but the lower vent could be made closable and negate that Basically it's ambient temperature versus whether you need to raise or lower temperatures most of the year.

I have never heard of that before, but it is possible, if your room temps are awfully cold (like in Nunavut). To me, the downside to placing a vent near the enclosure floor is that substrate can get caught there, and if your pet poops there, it is very difficult to clean.

What are the dimensions of your enclosure? If the terrarium is really long with a low ceiling, arranging the vents this way does not make much of a difference. It is really effective in tall arboreal cages.

hey thanks it really does help because if anything goes wrong i know who to blame just joking. nah i figured it wouldn't be all that bad but i didnt want to put it together then find out i should have done it another way my enclosure is also only 20" tall and 74" wide. thanks for the second opinion, anyother thoughts would be great as well.
