View Full Version : travelling with snakes?
Hello everyone,
just wondering in da summer we going up to da cottage paradise!!!lol :) anyway I'm talking my cornssnake with me cuz I can't leave her alone for 2 weeks so I was wondering does anyone knoiw the safest way for travelling with a snake? like how do you secure the cage ,mines a 20 gal all glass and I don't know if i should take the snake out and stick the cage in the trunk and but hjer somewhere or what anyone have any travelling tips also does would the noise of loud crazy drivers from toronto ( thats enough to scare me on the highway lol) cause them stress thanks
Hi Nicky your best bet would be to put the snake in a pillow case and set it on the floor, and for it stressing the snake, after you get her tank all set up again just leave her alone for a couple days she will be fine!!
ok thanks my little city serpent goes to the contry lol i have to get pics mayeb I should get a digi camra virst sry guys maybe next year.

Why can't you leave her alone for 2 weeks? That's what makes snakes great pets. Just make sure the water dish is full. 2 weeks is nothing man. I went to Cuba for 3 weeks last summer and I had gravid Rainbows and Balls. They were due to lay/give birth the day after I got back! I was pretty worried the whole plane ride back too! But my Mom had Don's number just in case anything happened!
i would leave mine alone but i dont trust my roomate..plus i have a lizard who needs to be fed every day! so no vacations for me ne time soon!
I don't trust my roomates upstaires alone with my little snake so i'm bringing her with me:)lol nah there ok I'm just bringing her along for the vacation after all shes part of the family so were we go she goes:)

I know that snakes can easily go for weeks & months without eating but I read that they [king snakes, anyway] will urinate in their water dish which therefore needs to be cleaned and refreshed often to prevent them from "drinking from the toilet". :toilet:
I'm sure that most snakes would still be OK if left for 3 weeks or so but I'm not going to do that to my snake.
meh, i've got a pretty cool mom that loves to feed my snake (especially since we've started to feed with kitchen tongs) so leaving it for a week is no problemo for now. Even when I go to college end of next year she said she'd take care of my snakes (i'll have at least 2 by then) while i'm gone. Hopefully i'll be able to take at least one with me :)
