uro food

I've had my uro for about a year and 1/2 now and i'm still having a hard time getting him to eat a variety of foods. He loves lentles, peas, beans and crickets. And will only eat dandilion greens and clover if he's outside. If i put anything else in his dish he refuses. He's really a picky uro who knows what he likes. Any suggestions?

I have two uro's and that has never happeneed to me but the only thing i can think of is maybe to put it the green vegetables he likes and than a very small amount of the new one you want to introduce to him. Than every feeding put a little more and a little more and he might just get used to the new food instead.

Pookie,
You just have to keep offering the foods you want him to eat, and eventually he should start eating them. As far as vegetable matter goes, Chester(my BD), won't eat veggies out of his bowl. I have to either scatter them around his tank, or when I take him out, I put them on the ground for him to ''find'' and eat. I guess he wants to feel like he's in the wild... ;) But with crickets, he likes THOSE hand-fed to him, haha... so much for being in the wild. :P

My uro will not touch crickets, but she loves silkworms. I didn't think uros ate crickets, I feed silkies to her because she needs the animal protein but crickets really?? I guess I have to try that too!

Mine eat crickets! Maybe it depends on the local. Whatever food is available to them in their natural range. They love dandilions.

Well a lot of people have told me that variety is key with the uro's diet so it might be bad if they are not eating the right types of vege's. To tell you the truth im stumped...I guess your gonn have to keep feeding him outside. good luck but sorry i wasnt any help :(

Have you tried endive? Put it in front of him when he´s outside.
When you can get him to eat this green than it is not that bad if he eats no other greens.
