Try these care sheets... :) Just curious, why did you get an animal that you don't know how to care for?

All I can tell you Monet is LISTEN and learn from the good people here and read everything you can get your hands on.
I cant help you with ball pythons as we cannot own them here but as you have taken on the snake it is now your duty to care for him.
This is not like a dog or cat, it cant fend for it's self or eat scraps to survive, it needs constant care and love or it WILL die.
The best advice I can give you is spare no expence! Buy the best equipment you can afford, if an experienced herp is good enough to tell you what he or she uses then buy it ! They are not selling gear they are passing down hard earned nowhow, we have all done the hard yards and we all know whats best so take the advice of these people or pass the snake on to someone who can care for it well.
If you keep it then good luck and I hope you get as much joy from it as we all do from ours, I only wish I could be of some help from experience but you will just have to hope that some of the good people here come to your aid.
Good luck again .

Rick.

news paper works good for a lining, some kind of hide place, like a small cardboard box, or a bowl with a hole cut in it and some tape around the rough edges will work. Some kind of heating source. and depending on the size anywhere from pinkies to rats for food, and of course a water bowl big enough for him/her to soak in if needed. Just a starter thing, you will want to definitly go and get the proper size cage. and read read read for more information.

i would say make sure you have a thermometer in the tank too... you don't want it to be too cold/hot. you want a gradient...so your heat source goes on one end of the tank, with no heat on the opposite so the snake can choose what heat it requires. try not to handle it for the first few days anyway...let it get used to it's new tank. be sure to find out what size food to feed it. good luck...and ask questions...cheers,
MIKE

Dont handel it for two full weeks sounds hard well time will fly by cause you will be here reading and learning scrach the tape idea from sapphire_moon the rough edges of a card board box is the last of your wories and tape and snake dont go good in the same sentence.

get 2 thermomaters one for the hot side and one for the cold side. get a hydromeater (it tels you how much humidity you have in the cage) for a glass cage dont use heat pads get heat lamps.
stay away from hot rock's for any herp's. provide plenty of hides and read up when that is done come and tell us I am sure some one will patch up what I mised and send you in the right direction.

Get ONE digital Thermometer with a probe so you can instantly see the temp on the cold side and the hot side. Those stick on thermometers are crap! Should be around 90 on the hot side, and 80-85 on the cool side. Humidity should be around 50-60, when it gets ready to shed, you can up the humidity to 70-80. Hope that helps!
