Okay, so does anyone know where I can get valves for a gravity fed auto-watering system? Prefer to get the Edstrom vari-flow valves, and would prefer a Canadian source (already know about agselect.com, but I'm trying to avoid international shipping costs).

Thanks,
Dawn

If you find some, let me know please. I just bought some from ag select.( VERY COSTLY )

Don't you have feed stores up there? I buy all of mine from the local feed store (they are located in the rabbit section, but they are the same thing for rabbits or rats).

None in my immediate area - maybe in Edmonton (~4 hrs south). And anyway, wouldn't rabbit valves be a little too big for mice?

I don't know about them being to large for mice, I always think in terms of rats. Sorry about that. The valves are VERY sensitive and don't require much to activate them, so I think they would work just as well for mice

Any local hardware store will do.
Just buy a copper tube (the ones with the crewing parts on) and put a bearing in it. Last part, screw on a washer (it will prevent the bearing from falling right through).

What I am trying to mean by the crewing part on the copper tube is it has to have the lining done on it soes you can crew the washer on.

a similar idea to Siretsap is to take the tubing drop in the bearing and use a flaring tool to flare the end inwards to keep the ball bearing in the tube.
