Hello!

I'm going to try the BP feed bag trick tonight, but I need some instructions. Do I thaw the rat as normal? How big should the paper bag be? Like a kids lunch bag or something? where in the cage should I put the bag for the night? Warm side or cool side?

Thanks

Dave

I've never tried this one but here are my thoughts...

I would think you would want a bag that has a floor area big enough for the snake to lay on without too much trouble. The prey should be be fully thawed. I find that if I offer thawed prey that is hot/warm my BP goes for it...so maybe put it in hot (not scalding) tap water just before you offer it.

If you can, put the bag in a spot that will create a mini temp gradient in the bag. You will want it to have access to heat but if it's too warm the snake would have no escape from the heat.

Good luck & I hope he/she eats for you.

Thanks for the info.

No offense to Mike, but could I get some thoughts from someone who HAS done this before, what you did, and whether it worked or not.

Again, thanks Mike.

A paper bag that you use for your lunch would be ok, anything really. Thaw the rat out, throw it in the bag. Make sure there is room for your snake to get in the bag, guide him in there. Keep him in the dark, leave him alone over night. Chances are it wont be there in the morning, good luck. Put the bag in the warm side.
