We had been offered 8 boelenes at one time. We had thought about getting them, but decided against it at this time.
I talked to the person who did get them (not in Canada) - and the last one looks very near death.
We are still keeping an eye out for the right ones, and will some day get some.
There have been some boelenes in Canada, but I am not aware of anyone who has had a pair of them live long enough to consider breeding.
It is fully possible that there are people Katt knows who are attempting breeding - but it is those shy illusive people in Canada, that one never hears about, that keeps the cool stuff successfully.

I know of someone in B.C working with a group, but we were just curious to see if anyone else may be working with these elusive animals... We are not too worried about names of these people, just glad to know that one day someone might figure out the key to keeping and breeding boelen's.....
The other ones than the west coast group are a couple in on the east coast.

I know of at least 11 in Canada(7 of which are adults), and there are probably more. At this time, this is a very difficult species to breed, and to my knowledge, there are very few accounts of captive breeding worldwide(you can count them on one hand).
Another reason not many people have them is because they are bloody expensive! minimum $2000 US funds for CH babies!
