Hey everyone i was juts wondering what should i feed to normal leopard geckos? I would like to feed them just the crickets becasue the mealworms really smell and they get away easily out of their bowls
Thanks in advance:D

Well mealies shouldn't smell first of all, but crickets do, and second you should provide as many kinds of food as possible so that your gecko gets the right nutrition. If the mealies are getting out of the bowl then you need a deeper bowl. I use as many things as possible cause it keeps my critters healthy!:D Just use your imagination and you can come up with a great feeding plan using both I'm sure. lol

don't count out silkworms and butterworms they make great feeder insects.

As for the smell, it's actually the oposite :) Crickets smell horrible!! If I were you, I would feed both or even better, feed more than just that. My leopard geckos eat mealworms, silkworms, crickets, butterworms, waxworms, and appropriately sized superworms. Variety is the key to healthy leopard geckos ;)

I feed my leos meal worms and super worms with occationnal wax worms and mice pinkies. I find that my leos grow much faster with super worms!

I hate superworms, the little b*****ds bit one of my leos on the nose and my blue tongue got a nice bit to the side of the mouth that took about a month to heal. When I feed them (which isn't often) now I squish their freaking, little heads!!
ah, I feel better now. Bent up frustration coming out. lol Other than that my leos love supers.
I use mealworms as their primary source of food, and add variety with waxworms, silkworms and crickets. I guess it is subjective, but in my opinion crickets smell way worse than mealworms, not to mention the constant chirping.
Like what Tim and Julie mentioned, if your mealworms are escaping, you need a deeper bowl, or a bowl with a lip that curls inwards.
I HATE crickets!!! EEwwww!!! They're stinky, jumpy, noisy and icky!
I only feed them as a treat very rarely cause I really can't stand them. My staple food is mealies offered pretty much constantly in a dish. A few times a week they get something different, silkworms and waxworms. Once or twice a month they get crickets and pinky mice.

P.S. Love Pumba for a name, I had named my first dog that and it was perfect! He ended up being a big, sweet, constantly farting pooch! lol I would name the pair Timon and Pumba :)

I use mostly mealworms bred and raised on wheat germ, fish food, and carrots. Occasionally I get my gang some waxworms or pinkie mice. If they are ever more readily available, I might try silkworms. I HATE crickets, they are such a pain in the bum but I might not have a choice since one of my babies is not yet interested in the mealies.

I order 1000 crix. at a time usually every 2 weeks. I prefer crix. but i can also deal with the chirping and i clean the cage every day or everyother day. If not, it does stink pretty bad. Mealworms they get every 2 weeks or so. i hate mealworms they always bite me and i've switched to using tongs but it takes forever to get them all out of the container they come in. silkworm and butterworms are a treat i'm trying to incorperate every month (just started doing this.) pinkes every 2 months they get one. During breeding season the females get one every month.
