Which is More Productive?

Hey there :)
Ive just got in a few rats and have enough to breed either 4 pairs of 1.1 or I could go 2 pairs of 1.2 or even 1.4 space is not much of an issue here. Im thinking that it wouldnt make a single difference the females would produce the same amount no matter how they were paired up. Am I right?

Yes the females should produce the same wether paired 1.1 or more females to a male. I have 1.3 going right now and my females are producing very well. I would personally only keep one male if he does the job well as the others would be unnecessary.

I agree with Pixie, I would recommend going with 1.4. Your females will produce the same amount, and I have heard (though have never experimented with this myself), that they are at their optimum production when there is one male to a mid-sized group of females (1.3 - 1.6).

Also it cost money to feed extra males.
And is more work to clean extra bins / cages.
