Maybe I'm being a worried mum but I haven't seen the hatchling with the short tail eat anything yet. What I did with the other one is just put mealies in a dish and count them later on. She's eating about 8-10 a day now. She's exactly a week old. The other one is about 4 days old but I haven't seen it eat anything. Should I worry or does it really take a while for some to start eating?

Is his skin all loose, like s/he is skinny? If not dont worry(i think). Have you tried crickets (small)? Maybe you should put it in its own tank if you already didnt do so?!
I had the same problem with one of my baby beardies though. He wouldnt eat for a week or so, but he still had a round belly. and after a week or so he started to recognize crix as prey.

Has it had its first shed yet?

Both of my babies didn't eat until almost a week after they'd been born, because that was how long it took them to have their first shed... I was getting a little paranoid too actually, but I'm sure that Gimpy is fine... give him/her a bit more time before you really start panicking ;)

They don't eat till after the first shed which is useually around a week after they hatch. Don't worry too much right now.

See I think the first hatchling hasn't had her first shed yet either but for some reason she is eating anyway. The skin isn't really loose just a little bit around it's neck. I'm not too worried yet. I guess since Luna is doing so well she is making Gimpling look bad. Thanks. :)

hey Meg, I have a Luna too. :) she is a leucistic.
Anyway, back on topic. lol, Don't worry, if Gimpy hasn't started eating yet she will soon. And I'm betting Luna had her first shed already and that is why she is eating. I haven't caught all my hatchlings in their shed but I know they have when I find their first poop that comes after the sheding. ;) Then I know it is time to feed them. Usually my leos shed by day two but I did have one last year that took 5 days before she shed. Now that was panic since her clutch mate was eating 3 days prior to her shed. lol.
Good to see you are a little paniced, that makes for a great mom. :) Good luck with them.
