View Full Version : Help my snake has scale rot
I just took my red blood python out for a quick visit and noticed that he has what appears to be scale rot. It doesn't seem to humid...he's not sitting in any water or his filth so what caused this and how can I help him. Anything will do
Scale rot can appear red, orange, yellow, white or black. If it looks kind of white and crusty you should get your snake to a vet asap because it could be topical salmonella (dangerous to yourself and your snake). I don't mean to freak you out, it could just be scale rot afterall. I use diluted Bactine for treatment and it works really well. Just soak your snake in it every day and make sure that you dry it off really well. You should also use paper towel as a substrate untill your snake is back to normal. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.
Good luck.

What does it look like? If you know for a fact it is scale rot (though I would recommend having a vet look at it to verify) I would soak your snake for half hour 1-2 times daily in a solution of water and betadine (just enough to slightly tint the water colour, dry well, and apply a bit of polysporin....
