Im new to keeping herps, and thought i would start with a plain simple green anole. They may not seem like much to u guys but he's great in my book;) !! I'm just wondering if there is any special care requirements that i need to know about them? My lps said i needed to feed him live crickets but i got him to eat freeze dried calcuim enriched circket.
Thx, Brad

Actually anoles arent as easy as some think. Most people house theirs in a small critter cage but you cant do that. They need ALOT of UVB, I would recommend a 10 gallon. Also I owuld feed live gut loaded crickets and offer him mealies also. Be sure to dust them and get the UVB on him if you dont have it. Also they need misted daily and alot of trees and stuff to hide in.

OH, and even if he will eat the freeze dried, i would recommend live over it. It will give him some excercise which is good since anoles arent handleable

Actually, I keep mine in a 20 gal and they are always lime green and THRIVE in breeding.

great advice for him everyone! seeing as how anoles are very closely related to iguanas (but quite obviously smaller) most people really don't realize just how much harder they are. they think, "oh that's cute and small and i can just take it home and it will be alright." but thanks to all of you they will find out just how much care is really neccessary for these wonderful animals. keep up the good work!
