Ok, I'm a long winded person, so I am going to share the sad story behind my real question first, if you wanna skip the awful details go ahead, but I have to get this out, damn injustices!

So my boyfriend and I are coming home from work yesterday evening about 7 ish, we're driving on our normal route and we pass a woman who was pulled over and there was a good sized snapper a little way in front of her car and out a bit into the road. My boyfriend commented and I was like, well shes there so it should be ok and we kept going, but he was lookin back. He saw her go to touch its head and it snapped at her (duh) and i was like well she'll figure it out, and he was like, nope, shes goin back to her car so i said we should turn around. We turned around at the next light which was close enough we couldve seen her car had she still been pulled over. Short distance, hardly any time passed at all, but when we got there the lady was gone and the turtle was dead. I wanted to cry, we were just seconds too late. :( Our best guess was that the woman got mad at the turtle and did it on her way back onto the road. The poor thing looked a fright with entrails scattered around and on top of her, and something else. Eggs. Most were broken, but a few looked perfect, as far as we could estimate she was probably looking for a place to lay them. We picked up the ones that we could get at without having to disturb her intestines etc and brought them home. For the time being we have the three of them in a little plastic container with an open top, its got moist soil inside that they are nestled in and its in front of a south facing window. If and when they hatch I plan on finding a good spot to set them free, their mother was a beauty of good years, we figured it was the least we could do after not being able to save her...

Now for the questions:
We are fully prepared to put the eggs in a better incubator, but we just arent sure what we should be doing...
Anyone got experience with hatching snapper eggs? how long does it take? what specific stuff might I need to do this the right way? I really want them to hatch, I'm almost certain that they will. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

I have hatched out snappers before. 34 perfect little babies. So cute.

I used plastic shoe boxes filled with perlite. Eggs are half buried in perlite. Water is added to 10-15% of depth of perlite so humidity is very high and eggs are not sitting in water. Temps around 80F. Hatch in 50-60 days. Ready to leave incubator in another week, or you can move them a few days after each one hatches, but that can be hard to keep track of. They can go right into 4" water after the first week. Feed any turtle pelleted food. Watch for fighting at feeding time. Only keep one or two per plastic shoebox.
