Yeah we need serious help in this situation. He won't listen to any of us, and he really needs to get rid of both of them.

Were does this guy live? Maybe he should drop by my place and take a look at what he's getting into.
I have a 2 year old burm, 15 ft long, 110 lbs (and still growing). She lives in a room 12x8x4. I also have two 4.5 ft red tail boas. I hope he has a big freezer for all the food he will need. And I hope he doesn't mind cleaning up after them. My burm deficates larger then a horse lol.
My last burm lived for 18 years, she was 19ft 200lbs when she died.

I will have to take pics of our friends albino female burm. Allie is over 22 feet, large for a burm, and over 200 lbs - that was as high as the scale would weigh at the time. Her head is the size of the average work boot (Sze 10) and she will eat 30 pounds of rabbit every week if you let her

I agree with the above posts, Burms are NOT a good beginner snake, despite their great personalities and easy to handle natures.

I have a burm, named Bandula. He is currently 3 years old, 14 feet in length and weighs almost as much as I do (120lbs.) Your friend is in need of a wake-up call unless he really knows what he's getting into. He's already been bitten once, in the future (with a larger snake), that bite can turn into coils and death.

You didn't mention how large his snakes are, but in any case they grow like weeds anyways. I think the record for Burm's is something like 27 feet and 420-something lbs. (This is the famous 'Baby' that recently passed away at 15+ yrs. in age).

Many pet burms are given away, set free or euthanized once they reach 10 feet or so. This is a major problem with the species, and anyone owning one should commit to it for it's entire life, and do all the right things to keep it (and us) safe. Most, if not all, states require special permits for the keeping of large constrictors. If you friend gets caught keeping them illegally the snakes will probably be conficated and euthanized. So not fair to these beautiful creatures. If he seriously wants to keep them, direct him to this site and we'll help him do it the 'right' way. Please update soon!

Sorry to interject this question, but where can someone access a listing to find out what states require permits?

I agree, ecspecially for a first snake, and two of them! MY burm is just 7 months old. When I got him he was about 2 1/2ft long and then he was 4 months, now at 7 months he is 4ft and a few inches. He is getting bigger everyday it seems. I use to be able to call my ballP my "big guy" but now i cant cause my burm passed him up and is getting close to his girth. Also if he wants to get rid of a snake cause it bites, he shouldnt own one. IF everyone got rid of a snake for that reason, there would be a TON of snakes w/o homes. I just got bit my boa two nites ago and I would NEVER EVER get rid of her, ecspecially for that reason! I love her and I KNOW FOR A FACT that it was NOT her fault.

Jncoclub... I would call either your local Humane Society (Shelter), Wildlife Managment or a veterinarian's office. All of the above will have information on your state. If you are trying to obtain information for a state you don't live in, I would suggest looking it up the internet and contacting the appropriate people. =)

yea i think he is going to give them to one of my other friends and there going to find a home for them... but i think hes planing on getting a Dumerils Boa if he gives them away... but im not 100% sure but if he gets a dumi i think he can care for that... sence i have one and mines growing like a weed good but fast :) so he could cope what i do, hopefully he will get ride of the 2 burms last thing i want to see is 2 dead Burms

Snakegurl42

Yeah.. that would be bad to see 2 dead ones lol well anyway if he is just starting out with snakes then he needs to get something small and easy, to get in the feel of things.. The last thing you want to see is a pretty dead snake handled by someone who doesnt know what he is doing!! lol
