View Full Version : Strange Attitude
I've had my Blood (Kilo) for about a year now and she's never shown any aggression. She's just a little over a year old and just over three foot. She eats great and seems to be in great health. I had to leave home for a little over a month and while I've been away my wife has been taking care of her, which isn't unusual. She never had any problems until the other day when Kilo started acting really strange. I guess when my wife had her outside Kilo started moving quickly for no reason so my wife picked her up and put her in her cage. My wife was looking at her through the glass when out of nowhere Kilo struck at her face hitting the glass. This is the first time since I've had Kilo that she has ever shown any agression. My wife hasn't taken her out since and I won't be home about two more weeks. Do you think she might start acting like this more often? Have you ever heard of this happening? I'm don't think it's really something to worry about but what do you think? My experience with snakes if fairly limited so any help would be great. Thanks.

its not unusual for bloods to get aggressive when they're becoming sexually mature.
usually inbetween 1 1/2-2 1/2 years of age.
i've had it happen with a couple of my blood pythons.
best thing for your wife to do is leave it alone till you get home, if she feels a little hesitant to deal with an angry blood.
if its still acting up once you return. leave it alone for a month or two till it calms down.
Chances are a blood that has been tame for a year, wont all of a sudden become agressive for the rest of its life.
if its already an adult, then perhaps it was just in a pissy mood that day.
Goodluck with it and let us know how he/she is doing.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, something outside probably just spooked her. It could also be what Grant said or even like what my blood did. I was just walking by the cage and she struck out of her hidebox, never did it before and never did it again! Probably nothing serious.

Was the blood in shed. that could have caused it to get stressed and act like it did. i would not worry sounds like you have a nice blood on your hands(ha ha) Nick
No she wasn't shedding and she souldn't have been hungry because she ate a jumbo rat about 6 days prior. It sounds like she could be going through maturity. I won't know till I go home.
