Thanks MudBoy....... I wish I could go in my back yard and catch a redbelly black snake..... LOL..... She is my biggest one...... Alittle over 5 feet and around 10 to 15 pounds...... And get this...... She is only 5 years old....... Her breeding partner is about the same age about a foot shorter and alot lighter..... Males look so small next to females.......

I was wondering if you have pictures of any gaboons giving birth??? And I was also curious as to how you deal with all those little tiny venomous snakes in the cage when they come out? Obviously a good hook! lol but still I can't imaging that.......

Looks to be a 6' vision cage. Could be off on the size but definately looks like a vision cage.

I honestly don't know , but I heard that Vision cages are not really good for keeping hots in? Like they can hide on the doorsills? Is this a Myth?

I have found this to be true. It aint fun counting baby timbers and finding a couple tails hanging over the lip. Not really any safe way to get them down. But i don't think a huge Bitis is that agile. I quit using Visions for hots and sold them.

Yeah its true, but I dont think I need to worry about a 5 foot gaboon perching on the sliding glass sils.... LOL....... There are not many places a large gaboon can hide in a vision....LOL

Very nice Greg,
Don't forget them little rascals she is having can get in the doorsills if they get stirred up before you can fetch em. Unless she has really large neonates. The B. Arietans babies I worked with in the past were quite small.

Gregg M

Neonate gaboons are quite larger than Puff adder neos....... They can hide under the sills but they generaly do not climb up on top......

That is a very impressive snake. I am going to get to see my first live Gaboon next weekend. I am really looking forward to it. Going to get to see some cobras also. Everything I have dealt with up to now has been North American vipers. Really excited about seeing something exotic. Great snakes. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Tom and Jane...... I have had no set backs to speak of........ They are actually the easiest snakes I have ever bred....... If you keep them correctly they will be very prolific........ The trick to it is humidity...... When the humidity and temp rise, they start humpin like bunnies....LOL......Max temp during breeding season should be no greater than 90f............. And that is only for a short time..... If your gabbies dont breed, you are doing something wrong....... I have had litters from 2 year old females under 3 ft....... Very small litters........ But litters none the less...... Good luck with your gabbies....... It is always nice to talk to a fellow Bitis junkie..... :)

*LOL*

Ok....the case with the humidity shouldenīt be a problem then. =O) Now itīs only the age diffrens. Our male is 3 years and boath females are ― years old....Little too nearly to start breeding on them rught!? :D

We have som newly taken fotos of them (and our other animals) but I havenīt figured out how to get them "working" yet....damn....I should had payed some more attention on the englishlessons in school. :D
