when i started with water dragons about 13 years ago (was 8 yrs old) i tried using top soil then found out the peat moss it better then i has a nice problem with little crickets breeding so then he delevloped a nice problem with mites.i changed that and used sand and moved the wd to another place to be fed well the problem with that is they love water and was alway coverd with dirt or sand so now i just have indoor/outdoor carpet and that had been my substrat for many years i have 2 or 3 for each tank so when it get dirty i put in a new one and clean the other one and let it dry for the next use if you have any qustions please email me at @ drake_reptiles@hotmail.com ( i have 10 wd differnt kinds) thanx
