Look what I found in the Hova yesterday! 8 days early here is Ichiryu (Japanese for Number One Dragon, still not definite on this name though). I was hoping I'd get some abberrant pattern hatchlings similar to Aurora's teardrop. Check out the cute little dots on this one. Incubation was 52 days. I was expecting 60. I hope it's still female.

I'm so proud. It's unbelieveable how tiny these guys are when they hatch. They look so huge in pictures. I'm in awe.

Ohh quick question. When we say they "live off their yolk" is that something in their bodies? Or do they lick up the leftover liquid in the egg? I wasn't sure so I left the egg in her nursery with her. Let me know. THanks :):):):)

Hey nice looking hatchling! I like those two dots on her. The word Domino came to my mind right away for some reason. Congrats and keep up the good work.

Oh that's a cute name. There is also a third dot on her tail. (yiu can only see the side of the dot from her picture) I'm going to wait til her clutchmate hatches before I decide on the name.

She reminds me of a yin-yang with the two opposite dots. What do you think of the name Yin-Yang? I know ichi means one but I never knew Ryu was dragon. So I suppose the Ryu guy in street fighter meant dragon, cool:) (I loved that game!!) Ichiryu is similar to the name I have planned for my hatchlings. I'm planning on naming my first hatchling either Ichi or Uno and my second one either Ni or Dos.

very nice congrats. It almost looks like one i had last year. Have you noticed she has a V on her head.

"Live of thier yolk" is her umbilical cord looking thing. they absorb the final yolk through that and you should let them sit there long enough to absorb everything they can. Sorry if i soulnd confusing i don't like to type alot i'm better at explaining things in person.

Woohooo!! Congrats Alice :) She's adorable -- looks like that black dot got taken off the top of her back and stuck onto her butt... LOL :) Too cute... that's a cool name too btw!

Thanks guys.

Martin: I thought about Yin Yang at first but since there is a third dot on her tail I decided not to.

Drew: Hmm, I didn't see any umbilical cord looking thing. I found her all hatched when i came home from work. Maybe she was all done absorbing it by that time? I dunno. I just put her in the enclosure with the egg. I hope she is not starving or anything.
