Okay, every now and then when I'm on ssnakess, this thing happens where browser after browser of the same page pop up non stop (until the computer crashes, I guess). Does this happen to anyone else? It never happens to me when I'm on another site so I was wondering if maybe the site has a virus, or if its me.

Thanks!
Zoe

Zoe,

I use Pop-up Stopper Free edition, and it blocks most of those annoying popups.

I got it at www.panicware.com

Well they arent really popups, they are entire browsers just opening and opening forever and ever till the computer crashes.

And that's not what bothers me, its the fact that I might have a virus in my comp...

I don't have any pop-up stopper, but I also don't get pop-ups on ssnakess.com. It was probably a piggy-back program that came off another site, and got downloaded in cookie form.

If you want to rid your computer if these little cookies and ads downloads Lavasoft's Adaware. Not sure of the address, but it's not hard to find. Check it out.

You might have a problem with your mouse getting stuck when you click on the browser icon. It may be opening multiple borwsers. Try giving your mouse a good cleaning.

If that does not fix it, I would say you have a virus.

I've had a similar problem , Zoe, but I get a million billion (possibly even trillion) pop ups asking me to download "Smokeandapancake.exe" ... it drives me crazy, but it's become one of those monotone problems that I seem to have overlooked in my computer.

There is definatly no pop ups coming from any of the ssnakess.com servers or sites. try checking any bars your have installed in your browser, like yahoo companion etc... all of these give random pop ups.

Would this be of any help, Zoe? I copied part of the info from Symantec's virus description. It might be way off, but is there a chance your computer is infected with this or a similar virus?

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w97m.tchau.html

When a document infected with W97M.Tchau is opened or closed, the macro virus performs the following actions:

Disables Virus Protection in Microsoft Word.
Infects the Microsoft Word global template, Normal.dot.
Deletes the files:

C:\windows\command.com
C:\*.*

Displays various pop-up message boxes.

Thanks Hilde but I don't think that's it. It's not popup boxes i'm getting, its a million ssnakess browsers. At the top of each one it says "www.sSnakeSa.com - multiple popup thing???" or whatever page I happen to be on at the time.

Try running a scan at http://housecall.antivirus.com it's free and it often detects stuff your average scanner doesn't.
