View Full Version : My new retic
I just got him over the Memorial Day weekend. He was an adoption/rescue, has a nasty scar on his tail from what I was told a rat bite. (by the size of the scar the rat had a few good meals) I got him through a grapevine of people so he has had a rough couple months changing homes. One person from another site i frequent, did the rescue and the hahab, and a couple other people put him up and transported him for me. He is a litlle high strung, but not nasty to me yet. He is right about 6' now so he's quite a youngin.

he looks like a bute! i hope you can calm him down who knows he might just be the nicesed retic ever but i am curious as to why the old owner gave him up???
I'm sure it had allot to do with the scar from the chewing. And probably his slightly agressive nature. Who knows? Could be it finally sunk in their head that it WILL get huge. I seem to have a way with agressive snakes, they seem to calm down nicely, specially when put on a f/t diet.

Wow he looks great! I'm glad you decided to adopt instead of helping the pet trade and buying one from a petstore, or possibly a breeder (which isn't bad, but at least you saved this one)

Rachel Out of the 22 snakes I have. I actually bought 4. I dispise the pet trade, specially for large Boids. If they are Surinam Boas or something special it's a litle diferent, but mass selling of Burms, Rocks, and Retics is just wrong. they are so pretty and very reasonably priced they make a very attractive impulse buy. Many wayward snakes find their way to my house. So far I have been lucky and vet bills havent killed me yet. Worst I have had was a $150.00 vet bill for a RI in a Surinam I got.
