Well, I took my leos out today at put them together on my bed. My female was just kinda walkin around, and the male was sniffen at her and lookin at her and all this. Every time he would walk up to her she would turn her head and walk the other way. Then, I put them both in *her* cage. (I know I know, your supposed to put the fem with the male but they seemed fine on the bed.). So he walks into her fav hide that shes always in...She follows and stops half way so I can see her tail, the tail started shaking like when shes hunting and then I heard the sand kick up. I quickly lifted the hide and put the male back. I know she tried to have a go at him, and hes smaller so I was worried he would have gotten torn up. Do you think if I put her in HIS cage nothing would happen? Is it just *her* territory? Thanks guys. (Sorry for novel message)

You can try it but just make sure you watch them, and get redy to seperate them if she gets agro.

definitely better to put her in the males tank. Give them a few days to cool off though.

Julie is the gecko person here but I think that is just normal mating behaviour. All perfectly normal. Tail wagging is used in a lot of leo behaviour. But I am sure Julie will answer tonight when she gets home.

Well tail wagging from a female is a sign of aggression. Tail wagging from a male is a mating gesture.

Yeah. I think Im just going to keep them apart till I figure out how to get them together without the bickering. If I put her in with my male how greatly does it reduce the risk of this repeating? Any suggestions? Thanks all.

It should reduce it. There will still be some behavior that looks like fighting but is really mating. Then I put aurora in with diggy it seemed like he kept trying to bite her and I thought he would hurt her so we kept prying them apart. He got so mad about it he kept trying to nip at my bf's hand for the longest time. then when we put diggy back in the mated right away. As long as the female is being submissive then I think it's probably better to leave them along.

Yes I think that she is being so defencive is because its her territory. If you put the female in the males cage they might not fight becasue the male might not care.
