Hello friends,
I recently went herping at east harbor state park, ohio. It is near the lake, actualy its next to the sandusky bay. It's a campground and a water snake paradise.
Down by the docks around 10:00 on saturaday we went hunting. In between these cement bottoms and these iron walls we saw about 15 snakes, but they get under the cement and are unable to catch. an hour later we tied the rock barriers on a penninsula nearby. Walking there there was some long grass by the edge of the rocks. We looked there and saw a water snake get under a rock. A garter also moved but it got away. Then we lookede a little more and found a little fox snake curled up in the grass. I took my entire gloved hand and put it on top of it. We caught it and put it into a cage we brought. (by the way, my 3 friends dylan, dan, and ben were there also). When we got out onto the penninsula there were many snakes. (northern water snakes) We caught 3 and came back. These 3 little ones were snappy so we let them go but on the way back we saw ther "lake erie monster,"and another snake sitting on a log. (The lake erie monster is a 8foot long northern water snake that some of the peiople that go there alot by the docks see.) The "lake erie monster" got away but we got the other 4 foot long one. This one was tame and we kept it out and people that came by touched and held it. We kept it in a bucket. Then we looked into the grassy area again. This time we caught that stupid little elusive garter that kept getting away from us,(eastern garter)another eastern fox snake and a small dekays brown snake. We put these in cages and then looked in the greassy area again. This time dylan caught another eastern fox snake and a northern water snake. We took one fox snake, the brown snake, and the eastern garter to the nature center and they are in our names. We went back to the docks to check on the northern water snake and the 2 other fox snakes but one fox snake got loose. We kept the water snake overnight and then let it go in the morning. I kept the other fox snake and it just shedded and is eating well. My two garters are fine too. I have pictures but they are not developed yet, but they will be soon. I'll post them later. C ya all. Oh yeah and garterguy, if u read this post your email address doesnt work so just privatwe message me ok? c you guys i g2g herping again
