The fire-bellied newt we got a while ago, seems to not be interested in food at all. The first couple days he ate freeze dried bloodworms. Then nothing for a couple weeks. So we got him frozen bloodworms and he habbily gobbled up a bunch at once and hasn't eaten since, almost two months now. The other thing is, he always sits on "land". He doesn't go in the water anymore unless you force him in. So it makes sense that he doesn't eat if he's not in the water. He doesn't really seem to be sick. But he'll sit in the same darned spot for weeks at a time if we didn't have to change the water. Any ideas on what's wrong with him? Also tried giving him some frozen brine shrimp with no luck either. He's basically just a waste of electricity at this point...

Did you try store bought shrimp?? Try making it mad and just putting it in it's mouth.

Lol, you mean like large shrimp and gut it in little pieces? Cooked or raw? In any case it doesn't matter because he ate a big clump of bloods last night. I guess he only eats once a month. :/

I buy frozen shrimp and cut it into bite size pieces (not very big because they swallow whole) and then thaw it. Then I simply throw it into the tank. Also you might try meal worms. It depends on how big he is. Also another food is feeder guppies. Those mine only eat once in a while though. Newts are not very active so I'd not worry about the not moving thing, but you should take it out once in a while and give it a nice good soak. Also try getting a small lily pad type thing for it to sit on in the water and still get wet. Or at least something it can lay on on top of the water.
