went to the park where I caught this little guy and after getting the hook out and two full days of antibiotics, we took him back. When we got there, the entire gaggle of geese were right near where we found him and that made it all so much easier to let him go. We opened the door to the dog carrier he was in, and instantly he made a run for the group in the water. I was so anxious to see if he was accepted back or not, and fingers crossed, he swam right to them and they were all noisy and took him back. Not one beak was out of place and they all swam together. WHOOHOOOOOO!!! I feel so much better.........Just had to share.
This is a picture of the little guy making a run for it when we opened the door to the kennel and he was the group in the water.http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/66setting_free_5-med.jpg

good to see he recouperated quickly, also nice to see he got reaccepted into the group. I don;t know how protective geese are about their colonies(not sure if this is the right word for it...) but its good nothing happened...congrats on the good work

That is so cool!!! You couldn't have had a better outcome!

A big congratulations again to you for your caring and devotion to a helpless animal. You should get a medal :)

Oh wow Beth that's so cool! lol. I almost cried imagining how hard that moment would have been, watching him take off for his real family :D

What you did was really nice. It's selfless people like you who make the world go 'round. *hugs*

Thanks for letting us know the little guy is doing well and had a successful reunion with his flock. I just love happy endings, especially when the beginning of the story made me so upset with the human race.
