Hey!
Im planning on breeding eather uros or beardies!...or both lol..
I have 1 enclosure 5.5 feet long 20 inches wide and 2.3-3 feet tall.......tons of room lol!

Its eather red beardies--i can get 3 babies(not guranteed but good guessed) or 1.3 adult LTC mali uros(tame)

I know uros r hard to breed...!lol
BUT ARE UROS worth breeding?.....like how much per baby?..n r they even on demand!......BUT i think uros r cute..LOL!!
any 1 know where i can get an eqyptian uro!?

WHAT DO U SAY ABOUT PUTTING THEM 2GETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But red beardies....Sandfire x red/orange..........or blood x blood

I noe beardies r easy to breed n tha babies go from 100$ each!..n they have like 2-30 eggs per clutch?

If u were me what would u do?
Or do u think breeding isnt worth it at all?..!//....

one more question about monitors/large lizards...i maybe want a big lizard..LOL..in like a year or so/...but whats a tame 1...i love desert habitats......(as u can see urs n beardies) lol

does any 1 know how to make a screen frame slide(like glass sliding doors, but screen?---what do i need and where to get it..

oh yeah 1 more thing--any water proof paint n not toxic paint..?..
(cheaper 1s)lol

Thanks yall

Hello I am not trying to sound mean or anything but you seem to have an urge to breed my question is have you owned herps before and do you know enough about them to breed these lizards I am sorry if you have the knowhow but It just sounds like you are rushing into it a bit fast is all . AL

I don't want to sound or be rude either and it's perfectly fine to ask questions but it seems that you don't really know what you are doing. If you are ready to breed then you should know by now that you shouldn't mix two species together, especially beardies and uros. If I were you, I wouldn't breed any herps for at least one more year of doing hard-core research.

I would say Uro's becuase captive bred Uromastyx have a higher demand right now, In my opinion. I also find them More active than beardies and extremely fun to watch. Plus the vegetarian thing is a huge bonus.

So thats 1 for uros....YA tha vegetarian is a bonus-Im not too shure about tha "higher demand"REMEMBER there MALIS

so tha score is 1 uros 0 beardies

I'm more partial to beardies. I love my 2 and would never trade them. But thats me. I've also never kept uros. so i'm bias on the beardies.

I'd say uros as well. The market has been glutted with bearded dragons the past 2 seasons so many new breeders lose money on the high feeder insect bill hatchlings bring. Unless you're a "name" with very high-colored dragons it's hard to get a good price for beardies. It cost me $88 a week during the height of last season to feed the 68 hatchlings I got from my breeding pair and you will need to keep the babies for at least a month before they are big enough to go to their new homes. Breeding beardies is a great experience but not a profitable one. :)

Also, while your tank is very well long enough for a pair or even trio of adult beardies, the 20 inch width is a problem. Male beardies keep their sex organs in pockets in their tail base and often grow longer than 20 inches. This makes the base of their tails quite inflexible compared to females. They'd be compressing their genitals every time they try to turn around in that cage which could decrease their fertility and just plain make them very unhappy boys. Male beardies kept in too small a cage that way have a much higher risk of hemipenal prolapse and infertility than beardies kept in a cage at least 1 inch longer than they are in every direction. So width really needs to be 24" and even more if you get a nice big boy.
