I just wanted to know the genetics behind the bananna blizzard and blizzard morphs, how to produce them and thier backgrounds ie who first produced the mthings like that
Thanks Darryl

I think banana blizzard is a cross between a patternless and a blizzard. But for more details wait for Dan :D

Yup, wait for Dan to answer that one! :D
Blizzards were first produced by Prehistoric pets in the U.S as a spontaneous mutation and it proved to be recessive. If you breed a blizzard to a normal Leo you get normal colored offspring het for blizzard.
Apparently prehistoric pets also claimed bananas were the combination of the patternless and blizzard gene in one.
I received my first blizzards from the U.S. and they were supposedly blizzard possible het for patternless. They were sold to me that way anyway. These were the blizzards produced from a double het for banana blizzard breeding. You get double hets for banana blizzard by breeding a blizzard to a patternless leo.
I bred these and did produce a few bright yellow blizzards. I have never backcrossed my bananas to patternless leos to find out for sure. So I am not 100% positive.
I do know that if you breed 2 bananas together like I did this season you can produce some screaming yellow babies. The babies seem to have received double the yellow coloration of their parents.
I think that bananas are just a different expression of the blizzard gene and probably have nothing to do with the patternless. I do think you can do some selective breeding and one day produce some extremely yellow bananas and the same can be said for the midnight blizzards. One day we may see jet black blizzards.
The blazing blizzard is something I hope to see with my own eyes very soon. If not this season then next year for sure.
Kelly Hammock of H.I.S.S has apparently produced true banana blizzards from Double hets. SHe proved them out by breeding back to patternless leos and produced some patternless babies but who knows.
The bottom line is that the blizzard gene works in mysterious ways and we do not fully understand how it works other than it is a recessive trait.
Hopefully this helped and did not confuse people even more. LOL

Don't worrie I got it all, thanks for the help since you up to date with all the leo genetics. Is there more then one type of albanism in leopards, like in retics and corns T+ & T- you know what I mean.

Yes, there is -- currently, there's 3 different strains of albinos in leos -- Tremper, Rainwater (Las Vegas), and Bell, the newest of the group. As for the T+, T- part I'm not sure, I just know that those are 3 distinct strains of albinos, and if bred together they will not produce albinos, just double hets (ie. a Tremper bred to a Rainwater will produce a normal baby, het for Tremper & Rainwater albino).
