I have 2 young cal. kings and I would like to start getting them ready for fuzzies and I was thinking of maybe offering them 2 pinkies for awhile instead of 1 and then when they get a bit bigger switch them to fuzzies. Now my question: Is that the right way to go about it and how how can I tell if they are ready for that without overfeeding them?
Thanks
Steve
If the pinkies are not noticable in the snakes belly after feeding the you are probably safe to up the size of meal.
A good way to size prey is to go not much larger then the girth of the snake.
I sometimes feed more then one prey item at a time but his is normally when i dont have a more suitable size meal available.
Hope this helped Jason
Like Jason mentioned, usually you feed two prey items if you do not have a more appropriately sized single meal. Fuzzies can come anywhere from the size of large pinkies to small hoppers, when you go to buy them, ask to see them first and pick one that is roughly the same size as the largest part of your snakes girth. That is the general rule of thumb for choosing an appropriately sized prey item :)

Just get a little older pinkies inbetween a fuzzy and a pinky feed that then after a couple of feedings with increasing size you'll be on fuzzies.
