Hey guys, I am brand new to this forum.. just registered. Thought I would post my first message and introduce myself a little bit.

I guess first off i am sort of a poser - i dont actually own a snake or any reptile for that matter. Never have. I am in the process now of getting myself a baby western hognose and so have been reading ************** and ************* for a few months now. Stumbled upon these forums by accident actually.

Up until a few months ago I have been deeply involved in predatory fish. For a few years I have kept piranha and african cichlids. My pride and joy was a tank with 6 large adult Pygocentrus Cariba (larger more aggressive cousin of the common red belly piranha - Pygocentrus Nattereri). Unfortunately since i am a university student, I do move around a lot so I was forced to sell all of my tanks before relocating to the house I am living in now. Anyone who moves around as much as me and is into fish can relate to the problems associated with owning tanks over 100g. I was pretty sad to see the big boys go, and shortly after began looking into something that was a bit more portable to fill the void. After reading about the various species recommended for a first time snake owner - fell in love with the western hognose. I cant wait to get my hands on one.

My main interest in these boards, is just to get information and opinions. I can literally sit and read boards for hours. So hopefully once i do get my hognose, I can be a part of this community and learn everything I need to know about keeping my new friend healthy and happy.

Note: To any fellow canadians out there - I am located in south western ontario! So heya hehe

welcome to our lil corner of the jungle. Hog as a first snake, great pets but with a frustrating habit of going off feed, sometimes for months at a time (I have a little westernXmexican). Ask away, plenty of folks here to answer questions.

Greeting and welcome on board. My name is Chuck and I live the southeastern United States. My main interest is North American pit vipers, but I also know a little about giant pythons. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Any one going to the Expo in Bristol this weekend keep an eye open for ScReptiles own Chuck Hurd and Joe Bradley. They will be in the venomous area.

Welcome aboard Andrew. I thought about getting piranha, but it's not legal here in Florida...too easy for them to survive if released.
