I have heard they can be a bit nippy and high strung but he just loves to be held and is very calm. Maybe i just got lucky. I love him to death already!!

Not a problem. Hondurans are some sweeeeet snake. Maybe Ill get one later in the year. Ive been looking into keeping colubrids so maybe that should be it.

Wow, that is a great looking hondo! But if you have anywhere close to the size hands I have, that snake should be eating hoppers and not pinkies. That looks like a yearling to me and my yearlings have been taking a hopper a week since February and even a few small adult mice here and there....

Anyway, awesome snake and good luck with him! :D

2 pinkies per week is what I would normally reccomend for a yearling milk depending on the size. My first years get 3-4 per week (or one fuzzie if they are big enough) and my 2nd years are eating fuzzies to med adult mice. The proportion in your pic (snake to hand) sorta tells says your hondu is 2002 and should be getting more than 2 pinkies. He is hungry, that is why he is eating like a hog. Remember that a food item should be visible when eaten by a snake as a lump in the mid-section area or your animal.
A good guide is to feed your snake a food item that is as large as the fatest section of your snake. I ofter feed my snakes food items the contridict this and give feeders a little larger than the fat area on the snake. This is personal preference and I really don't think that there will be any negitative effects from that. If the food item is too large, it will regurgitate it or refuse it and then you'll know it was to big.

Classic, 2 pinkies per week?!?! Trust me, they can handle a lot more! Your advice about the food size matching the largest part of the snake is true. I just find it hard to believe that the largest part of your yearling honduran is the size of a pinkie mouse. Next feeding time, offer it a hopper and you'll see. They are designed to be able to take down large prey. Try it. Your milk snake with thank you... :)

Why the hostility? Most care sheets that you will ever find will quote 2 pinkies depending on the size. Milk snake books also say this. All my milks except the sinalones are above 2 years. My Sinalones get 2 pinkies one week and 1 pinkie the following 5-7 days. They are yearlings and would be able to take more than that but why over feed. Some and most say that 1 pinkie a week is enough. Did you happened to read a little farther into my thread and notice what i fed my milks when they were yearlings. Remember that all milks are different. Just because your milk is easily eating fuzzies doesen't mean that a milk from the same clutch is only eating pinkies. The important thing is you need to stick to the topic of feeding yankeefoxtrott's honduran. No One here is an expert and i'm sure there are only a few people here that can dispute snake husbandry. In the future, if info on here is different than your personal experience, it's your personal experience. Share it with us or shut up and stop starting arguments.

He really is not that big at all... the pinkeys i feed him are about as fat as he is....anway hate to start an arguement when all i was tryin to do is share my kid with you.....lame :(

Hey guys, I was not trying to start an argument at all. Trust me. I wouldn't even bother wasting the space. I was only trying to help. Classic, please don't tell me to shut up. That is pretty rude there buddy. If you want to feed a yearling pinkies, go ahead. It's your call what size food the snake should be eating and I trust that no one here wants to over or under feed a snake. Sometimes people just don't realize feeding requirements change as a snake gets bigger and it doesn't hurt to offer some advice. Sorry if I came across as being a rude, pushy, know it all, but I didn't mean it that way. Not in the least.

I alwas say if a person is hesitant to up the size then try to increas the amount of prey at first. if you see....feeding 5 pinkys is going real good for ya then there is no harm in trying to feed somthing biger butt keep in mind that the animal my not want to eat any thing biger so have thows 5 pinkys kicking around in case.
No real harm can come from trying if it dos take down a larger one then just calculat the waight of the 5 pinkys and match that with 1 or 2 hoopers.

I am just using numbers to make a general idea you all know what my point is i hope.

any way do what you see fit but remember that the whole world population once said the world was flat and one man said it was'nt no real harm down just improvment. you see
