It is some type of K-9 I believe....... But I am no expert on hairy animals........LOL...... there was not enough of it left to Id it...... But it is way too big to be a cat skull........

What a score! At the reptile store near my place you would be paying like $25-30 for something like that.

Looks like a fox skull that I have, except mine has more teeth, lol. How did you clean it up? Mine's been sitting on my shelf for years and it still has all kinds of crazy stuff in it's head. It would be nice to clean it up and put it in my leopard gecko tank or something.

I used bleech and picked most of the leftovers out with a stick...... There was some brain, an eye and some skin left but the bleech helped out alot....... Then I got an old tooth brush and so Ajax and scrubbed it for about a half an hour....... Nothing to it......
I would say some sort of cannine as well.
Gregg, that's gross. But my hat goes off to you, I could never pick the brains and eyes out of a skull with a stick. Didn't it stink?

Nice collection! Was the eye still in the its' orbit? I'm sure you had fun poking at it! :P
My uncle hunts wild animals, and when I was a kid I used to collect the heads and clean them with bleach and a knife, it was really gross, but worth it.
Then I went to the ROM and went behind the scenes where they do research and all. They have a HUGE collection of skulls and skelletons you never see because its in the reasearch area.
Any ways, they showed me how they clean the flesh off the bones. You know those little black beatles you sometimes get when you buy crickets by the box? Well, they have an enclosed room there and the floor is covered with, seriously, millions of these beetles, and all they do is leave the dead carcas there and it is picked CLEAN in a week. Sooo easy, since I was a kid when I went they said I could bring my dead animals over and leave in their room, I must say its way easier to have a billion beatles do the job for ya, and they do a PERFECT job at that!!! :)

Too cool ! I have a few myself. A cow , 2 deer & a bear. The Department of Natural Resources is where I got the bear from. They suggested boiling before using anything like that in a tank set-up , just to be sure everything was cleaned off including the javex which can soak into bones. My skulls have never lived with reps (I'm new to reps) but they have lived with small mammals & plants with no ill effects. I may use one with a scorp sometime & will give it a fresh boil first. Let us know how you make out with yours.
Cheers for now , Dar.
