I'm pretty sure my crickets laid eggs, but I've been waiting 2 weeks and they still haven't hatched. I don't heat the eggs up so I don't know if they will hatch at all. The temp is usually around 65-70*F. Does it take longer to hatch at lower temps, or will they not hatch at all at that temp? I spray the vermiculite in the laying box every few days.

Cricket eggs should hatch in 7 to 14 days, and if they haven't it is either because they are too dry, too cold (probably the reason) or not viable (unlikely).

Your temperatures are WAY WAY too cold man. Try 85-90F as a minimum.

Ok, I put some heat rope under the cricket container. Is it worth trying to save the eggs that have been sitting in 70* weather? I'm thinking I should get a new batch of eggs.

Should you keep eggs moist all the time when they are in the incubator? Or do they even need to be wet at all?
I am thinking that i may have drown them.

Never give up on eggs. At 70F they should hatch in about 2 months. It's very hard to drown the eggs in moist soil unless it is dripping wet. I hatch mine in my incubator at 84F and 100% humididty.

I breed my own crickets and I keep the medium moist for the laying period and then when I incubate them I put the lid on the container and check on it every few days and spray it if it is dry. Don't soak the medium or else you will drown the embryo. The temp in my room is about 29C (I can't remember off hand what that is in F) and the eggs usually hatch within 7-14 days. I leave the lid open a crack as soon as I see any pinheads and start placing food and water in with them. I have written a how to on breeding feeder crickets you can find it at:

Hope this helps
