Cleaning with TIDE

i was wondering if i could take lets say his water dish and clean it out with tide. After a thorough rince, is it safe to place it back into its cage? will it harm the snake? i dont like using bleech as it smells and leaves an odour on the dish too

I just use dish liquide with a anti bacterial just tell your self if you cant drink from the bowl your self your animals can't.

my anti bacteria soap smells like watermellon, i can surely drink out of that!! but i'm not too sure if the snake likes watermellons as much as i do :)

A good thing to do is have 2 bowls per snake that way when you replace the dirty one you can put a clean onr that is clean and dry ane air'd out that way it will not smell at all.
You never know when a RI wants to set in and what might triger it. so just to be safe.

a new bowl costs what 2$-5$ it is way worth it trust me.

...and the small rubbermaid containers for food and such work EXCELLENT for snakes because you can buy them cheap in all sizes, plus they're really easy to clean and you can wash them like dishes :)

One suggestion is to use deli cups, throwing them out once a week.

Lisa- I wouldn't use deli cups. I havn't tried them but I am taking a guess that even when filled with water, a snake would be able to push it over and make everything wet amd boy...that would take a long time to dry and could quickly raise the humidity level and stress the snake. I personally use those heavy brown catfood bowls witht he blue insides. They are very heavy and impossible to tip. That's just my opinion though...

What ever you do don't use TIDE bad idea. I don't even use the crap for my clothes. Soak them in a diluted bleach solution of at least 10% for an hour & scrub/rinse them really well. A mild amount of chlorine is present in all tap water & will not hurt us or snakes even if minor residue is left behind. Always use bleach in a diluted solution only! TIDE on the other hand is nasty & is meant to wash clothes, not dishes. Antibacterial soup will not nessicarily "kill" everything either, whereas bleach will for sure. Better yet go talk to your vet about some Quatsyl D (I beleive thats what it's called) Mark I.
