New baby snake not moving

I just got a baby ball python on sunday and i just leave him in his cage and he doesn't move at all. Why is this? Is this due to stress?

Ball pythons in general aren't very active snakes.... try checking when the lights have been out for a little while at night, that's your best chance for seeing him out and about. During the day, it's most likely that he'll spend all of it curled up in his favourite hide....

Yah, its probly the stress of a new cage and stuff that is if it is alive? But if it is it should be up and around in a week or so once it starts eating. But ball pythons are really active snake [so I've heard and sometimes veiwed]

he was very active when i went to the pet store and asked quetions and held him. he was all over my hand and stuff. Now that hes in a MUCH bigger tank(40 gallon) he just sits in the warm side, i thought he was ill. i guess he has to get used to it.

Hey you're right i closed the light and waited a little, he moved around the cage! cool! i feel a lot better now

wiered because my king is always out wheather its dark or lights on

That's because kingsnakes are diurnal (I think -- not a kingsnake expert ;)) and ball pythons are nocturnal... so it makes sense for your ball python to be out at night and not during the day :)

i held him for the first time in 2 days and he actually moved around instead of curling up in a ball. really cool cuz i usually picked him up when its day time.

After a month or so is it ok to pick them up in the day time?
