Frozen Mice

As I was thawing out a mouse to feed Montey, I thought about something...how do they kill the mice? I hope it's not painful, I like mice! lol

they find most of them dead already or they inject a type a poison which kills them instantly,no pain

And I would assume the poison is harmless to the reptiles then.

I believe they gas them with co2.

I personaly wack them in the head.

they're not poisoned, that would be bad for the snake and they don't find them dead, that would indicate a sick rat which could be bad for the snake. some times they're wacked, other times their necks are broken, and there's also CO2 which causes the rat to go to sleep and not wake up.

I agree with Lisa Why would they poison them and take the chance harming the customers reptile's most use C02 to kill them

Yah they gas them with co2 at least every place I know of does i wouldt think they would do it any other way. For awhile when i killed my own i couldt bare to kill them my self i would stick them in ziplocks and stick them in our deep freezer but then i couldt do that anymore i feed live now.

How does breaking there neck kill them? I am sure I'm overlooking the obvious But???

Every large rodent supplier gasses their rats in large chambers.

Breaking the neck (if done properly) severs the spinal cord at the base of the skull. Instant death. ;)

Actually, yes it is. Depends on how much pressure is asserted. If it is only broken half way, then the nerve is severed and we become paralyzed. That is why I had said 'if done properly.' Also, this is a good reason why you should never allow a large snake to sit around your neck. It only takes a few pounds of pressure to break a human's neck and those larger/giant boids are VERY strong.

the poison they use at some pet stores are not toxic enough to harm reptiles,but i do know that some pet stores risk the chance of harming reptiles by finding them dead
